Help! It's summer and I hate colour!!!!!

Ok so the titles a bit dramatic….I do like a bit of colour here and there just not loads of it!! This post is just a small one to let you know of a series i've been working on over the past few weeks!!

I am a bit of a colourphobe….I like to stick with what I know really and that tends to be Grey's, Black and White. Even when it comes to patterns it's usually in those colours. This is great in the winter because there is an abundance of plain clothes in these colours but come summer time it is a bit more difficult. In the past i've kind of forced myself to wear colour and looking back on old photo's I hate myself for it, I don't look comfortable in the outfits I chose and to me I look like i'm trying to be something I'm now!

So when I started to think about my summer wardrobe for this year I decided that I would completely be myself and source gorgeous clothes that are summery but stick to a palette that I love. I also realised that I probably won't be the only girl out there that suffers from being a bit of a colourphobe and I thought I would share some of my findings and tips with you all!

I've been using pinterest A LOT to help me sort of map out a kind of mood board of the style I want to go for and have actually been quite surprised with myself due to some floral patterns and colour sneaking into it! This isn't a bad thing mind you, I do think that allowing yourself to just go with what you actually like and not forcing yourself to stick with black, grey and white is quite a good idea! Personally I don't really want to be walking around France (my holiday destination this year!) looking like a goth, so having some floral and colour in there is really going to break up all of that plain blacks and greys!

I've decided to split this over a few posts because it'll probably get quite extensive if I don't. These posts will include a wish list, a tips and tricks post, a How to post and maybe (MAYBE) a few videos!! The posts will be up over the next week with some videos hopefully up the following week (again!! MAYBE!!!!)

Have a great weekend!!

Day 4 - Seriously! You're Never Too Old To Spend An Hour In A Disney Store!

Today was a family day so there isn't many pictures as I don't want to plaster my families faces all over the internet. My Grandad turns 89 on Monday so for an early Birthday meal we popped down to Edinburgh to see him and my Uncle who is visiting from England!
The restaurant we went too called The Hawes Inn in South Queensferry, from the restaurant you could see the rail bridge and the road bridge! It was lovely watching all the cars and trains crossing them as well as all the boats going past!

Wearing:
Dress - Primark
Kimono - H&M
Boots - asos
Necklace - Primark
Lipstick - Kate Moss 107

The restaurant was lovely! Full of character and deceptively large. Outside it looked like a tiny pub but inside it went on and on into different little areas. The food was gorgeous and the only complaint we had was that the service was quite slow, this was because of the food being VERY fresh and the fact that there seamed to be only one waiter serving about 15 tables! The poor guy was very flustered!

(An example of one of the little areas)

(This little fireplace was beside us and kept us warm!)

After food we headed into Edinburgh to visit my Great Aunt who's in hospital. I had decided to take some nail polish to paint her nails with and the smile on her face after I had finished them really made me happy that I had given her something to smile about in quite a confusing time for her! It really is the little things!!
We had to stop in at The Gyle Shopping Centre to go into Morrisons so while my parents and sister went and did the shopping I went and wandered round and round the Disney store. I chatted to some really lovely people that were working there and had a good wee geek out about Frozen and all things Disney!!! I seriously would love to work in a Disney store! I left with the Saving Mr Banks DVD and another limited edition bag to add to my little collection!!

Today we head home so I won't be blogging! But look out on my Instagram for a picture of a HUGE pancake!!
I hope you've enjoyed this little series! Let me know if you'd like to see more of this sort of thing.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Day 3 - Please, No Photography

Yesterday was the quietest day we've had! It was also the day we got to see one of the prettiest houses i've ever seen and I was told "Please, No Photography". This is not really something I wanted to hear as I've seen pictures of the inside of Dun House and it really is spectacular!

(My lovely Dad is getting to be quite the expert at these OOTD photo's!)

Wearing:
Top - Primark
Skirt - Primark
Cardigan - Jack&Jones
Shoes - Convers
Bag - Oasis (I really need to get more bags!!)
Necklace - Forever 21

Dun House was beautiful! It is completely symmetrical inside and out and the length the architect went to keep it that way is incredible! The rooms are all gorgeous, filled with treasures to look at and all I could think as I went through it was how much I wanted to do a photoshoot there! Our guide was a lovely guy called Forrest (Yes, that is his real name and personally I think it's quite nice!), it was one of his first days which meant that he took his time. A lot of the time you go to these big houses or castles and the guides know everything word for word but race through it without really stopping to answer questions. Forrest was great, and was able to answer everyone questions!!

(Dun house in all it's glory)

After leaving we popped into Montrose and sat at the beach and had our lunch before heading back to the caravan to spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Oh!! I did pop into a little independent clothes boutique called VV's Boutique (Link here) and bought the most beautiful pair of trousers I have ever owned!!! Look out for them in an OOTD soon!

This is probably one of the shortest posts i've ever written! To make up for that though yesterday I posted one of the biggest, the Loch Lomond Wedding Fayre post! Make sure to go and check it out to see some great businesses that were there!

Hope your Friday is off to a good start. I'm off to Edinburgh to see some family!

Day 2 in Forfar - Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice

These posts are fast becoming 'What I ate today'! Sorry! But we just find the cutest little tea shops in these little villages and I can't help but take pictures!! I'll try and cut back though….no promises though…

Yesterday was a bit duller but still quite warm so we decided to take a little trip to Arboath. After a quick stop to say hello to a friend and a duck into Boots for mascara and a hairbrush (which omg is the best thing i've ever used in my hair!!!) our first stop was lunch! (I made no promises!!)

First, here's my outfit for the day (again sorry about the screwing up of the face!!)

Wearing:
Top - Primark
Jeggings - George at Asda
Bag - Oasis (I take this bag everywhere!)
Boots - Dr. Martens

Our friend had recommended Sugar & Spice on High Street as his favourite and trusting his judgement we decided to give it a go. As soon as we saw it we knew it was a good decision, It was adorable!

(From this picture it doesn't really look much but the lights around the guttering were twinkling and it just looked so homely and inviting!!)

(This is what greets you as you go in….sweets, sweets and more sweets!!!!)

(The displays of all their home wears were so cute! And I wanted to buy everything for my room!!)

(This is one of my all time favourite sayings!)

The tea room was gorgeous, all the waitresses were dressed in little victorian style white aprons with little white caps and were so friendly! The chef even made my dad Eggs Royale from the brunch menu (it finished at 11.30) which was delicious! The range of food and drink is insane! They had about 6 different types of tea and 4 types of hot chocolate alone!!

(My dad had tea (tea bag tea as it's called on the menu) with his Eggs Royale)

(My cinnamon and apple scone was amazing!!)

(Along with my scone I had their Chocolate Violet. This apparently, they found in Paris and it's hot chocolate laced with violet and it tastes amazing! I'm definitely going to look out for it when i'm in Paris in the Summer)

(My Mum's Carrot and Turnip soup)

(Along with her soup my Mum had tea leaf tea)

I loved the style of the place and the cups and saucers were so pretty! I would definitely recommend this lovely little place to EVERYONE!!!!! (9/13 High Street, Arbroath)

After filling ourselves sufficiently we headed for a wander along the sea front and around the harbour.

(It's a bit strange but I love creels…I grew up in a tiny fishing village in the North of Scotland called Buckie and creels remind me of there along with the fish smell!! I just love it!!)

Before heading home we popped up to see Auchmithie another tiny, tiny village on the edge of a cliff face with some stunning views!

(It had got duller by the time we made it over there but it was still lovely!)

On the way home we couldn't believe the huge amounts of daffodils filling the fields ready to sell, it looked gorgeous!

(Daffodils for miles!)

I realise that to some people these types of posts may not be that interesting but to be completely honest they're more personal diary type posts for me to remember my holidays! I just post them up here because I like reading posts like this so there must be at least someone else who does too!!

There'll be two posts today, this one and another later on thats about the Wedding Fayre I was at over the weekend! So watch out for that!

Happy hump day!!

Day 1 in Forfar - I Do Believe In Fairies I Do, I Do

All this week i'm staying, with my Parents and younger sister, in our caravan in a little town called Forfar near Dundee. I've decided I would blog everyday I'm away as I would like to start doing a little bit more lifestyle posts.

Yesterday we went further North a bit to a little town called Kirriemuir. This is the tiny town where J.M Barrie, author of Peter Pan, was born. Peter Pan has been my favourite story since I was little, I read the book over and over and watched the Disney movie over and over too! So I was quite interested to see where the author was born! It's a tiny little house that if it weren't for signs you would drive right past without another glance!!

Here's me standing outside his front door!

(The sun was right in my eyes which is why I look as if i've smelt something really bad!! Sorry!!)

Wearing:
Top - New Look
Jeans - Kirsten Topshop
Shirt - George at Asda
Shoes - Converse
Bag - Oasis
Lipstick - Kate Moss 107

(The original manuscript for Peter Pan and some Peter Pan themed playing cards that were displayed on J.M Barrie's desk)

(I really liked the cover of this photocopied version of the original manuscript!)

(Wee picture of me and a statue of Peter Pan!)

Inside the house there was a play room set up to look like the Darling children's nursery, complete with bed and window with the shadow of Peter in it. But in the corner and behind curtains was a stand that you could lie on, air was then blown in your face and when you looked in the mirror it looked as though you were flying! And because I'm such a big child I decided to pop a lost boys hat on and give it a go.

(I can fly, I can fly, I can fly!!!)

After leaving there we decided to go for some afternoon tea in a local art gallery, it was so cute with mismatching teacups and saucers and chairs!!

We then took a little drive into the country and through Glen Prosen, I did take some pictures but my lens is so dirty and needing a clean that none of the pictures can be used which is really irritating!! It's now been cleaned though so I'll hopefully get some good pictures the rest of the week!!!

The campsite we're staying at is right on the edge of the lake and myself and my Mum decided to take a walk round it last night to feed the ducks, the sunset was gorgeous!!

(please excuse the awfulness of this picture!! For some reason blogger doesn't like it when there is black shadows so tries to add information in the form of pixels, which is what has happened here…..the foreground grass area is all black on mt phone….)

Todays post will be up tomorrow morning! So watch this space!!

Cocktails, Shopping, Friends & Food

I've left this post so late i've ended up having to split it into two! I've got two weeks worth of pictures stored up! This first post will be from the 15th of March until the 18th (I kind of forgot to take photos the rest of the week)

Saturday 15th March

I went up to Glasgow to stay with my closest friend Catherine for the night, I arrived and we went straight into the city centre to get cocktails and do some shopping. I didn't get an OOTD kind of because in all honest my outfit was nothing special, it was just something comfy to wear to walk around Glasgow in the cold!

We started off in TGI Fridays for cocktails then went on to a few shops including Debenhams (I may have finally bought the Naked 3 palette), Primark and Forever 21 (Full haul coming soon!!)

Sunday 16th March

After coming home and unpacking all my lovely new things from the day before, it was time to get ready for a night out in celebration of St Patricks day (I like to mark it in some way, my Dad and his family are Irish so I feel obligated too….or maybe it's just an excuse to have a drink? To be honest I think thats what most Irish see it as anyway!!)

Face:
Baby Skin Pore Eraser
Revlon Colorstay Foundation
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
(Ugh even it wasn't good enough to completely erase that days bags!!)
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil
Strange from Naked3 Palette all over lid and up to brow, Nooner from out corner of lid to middle and in crease, Darkside and Blackheart on outer corner and blended up.
Seventeen Wet Look Lacquer Eyeliner
MAC Extreme Dimension 3D Mascara
Bourjois Delice De Soleil Bronzer
Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Lipstick in 107

Wearing:
Top - Forever 21
Jeans - Kirsten from Topshop
Shoes - New Look
(I then changed the heels to flat ankle boots with studs on the heel from ASOS)
Necklace - Primark

(Myself, Jen and Lydia! 'Twas a good night despite them having been out the night before and Jen and I being full of the cold!)

Tuesday 17th March

My Dad and I every so often like to have a Father, Daughter lunch together and since I was off college and Dad had Lunch free from work we decided we would go to a gorgeous Italian Restaurant called Cecchini's just round the corner from our house and his office! The sun was out and it was warm so I decided to wear my first almost spring outfit of the year.

Wearing:
Top - Plain black cami from a local independent shop called Electric Daisy
Skirt - Primark
Cardigan - New Look
Shoes - Converse
(Yes I realise i'm not wearing them here but I did put them on before I left the house!!)

As usual Cecchini's delivered with their gorgeous food!

For starter I chose the Mozzarella. It was delicious! The cheese just melted in your mouth and paired with the cranberry sauce and the salad and dressing it all complimented each other so well! I loved it.

I then chose the classic cheese burger! It again was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection with the roll lightly toasted giving it that all important crunch! The chips were perfect, not too greasy and nice and crunchy! (Anyone else's mouth watering?)

Later that night I decided to do a tiny bit of pampering and painted my nails then went for a bath!

Nails:
Essie's Shearling Darling from their Winter Collection mini set
I've fallen in love with dark nails (I'm going crazy for dark colours in clothes too at completely the wrong time of year!!)

Bath Bomb:
Lush's Ickle Baby Bot
How cute is this little guy? He smells faintly of lavender (nothing too strong since he is actually meant for children) which means that even me who has an almost deep hatred for the smell of lavender can use this. It's so faint that I didn't even realise it was lavender until I read the ingredients! This little bot is designed to help sooth babies (older than 6 months) and children just before bedtime! It is great for sensitive skin and with it's cute design what child isn't going to love this sweet little bath bomb?!
My only misgiving about it is that it doesn't generate a lot of bubbles which, for children, a bath really isn't a bath without! So I would recommend looking into Lush's Fun in Blue which is made out of the same ingredients and will give you loads of bubbles, and as the name suggests, FUN!!!
Check it out HERE

Hope you've enjoyed my little life update my next one will be up either later today or tomorrow!

A massive Happy Mothers Day to all you beautiful Mummy's out there! I hope you all get breakfast in bed, flowers, pampered and the day off (Which, if you have little ones is probably very unlikely!).
And to anyone who isn't a Mum I hope your doing something special for yours! Let me know what you are doing!! What I get up to will be in my next life up date so look out for it.

Happy Sunday!

Outfits, Hangovers, Cats & Cake

Life's been a bit hectic lately with a lot going on with course work and other stuff. The past week and a bit has been the same but i realised that i've been completely neglecting my little space on the inter web! So I decided that no matter how busy I was I would make an effort to photograph anything I thought would interest you guys! So thats what i've done! I don't know if it will be interesting at all to you (let me know what you think!) but I enjoy reading posts like this and if I do there will be other that do too!!!

(Warning: This is going to be another loooong post, but there pictures to look at so yaay!)

Tuesday 25th February

I didn't do much apart from go to college but I didn't start until half 12 so I had a bit of extra time to get ready!

Wearing:
Top - Not sure, theres no label!
Jeans - Kristan from Topshop
Scarf - Accesorize
 Bag - Oasis

Face:
Light Pink colour supplement from Lush
Phwoarr Paint concealer from Seventeen
Motivation eyeliner from Lush
Extreme Dimension 3D mascara from MAC
Rimmel eyebrow pencil
Chantilly blush from Sleek
Intense Care Baby Lips

The sunset was gorgeous that night! I love that the nights are getting longer!! Spring is nearly here.

Arrggh, Blogger decided that the exposure on the houses had to be changed so it's gone all pixelated! Oh well the sunset still looks gorgeous!

I also enjoyed my first bath in ages!!

I received both of these as a set for my Christmas (yep! i'm still working my way through my christmas stuff!!)
Rose Queen bath bomb - Smells like freshly cut flowers and leaves your bath water pink and your skin smelling gorgeous! Only complaint I have is I wasn't particularly keen on all the flower bits floating around in the bath!

Amandopondo - Again smells like fresh flowers! These two paired together worked like magic! Amandopondo leaves your bath full of bubbles and your skin will feel lovely and soft afterwards! Again though, I didn't like the feeling of the flower bits in the bath!

I enjoyed the smell of both but I kept getting the shivers feeling the bits floating around, I probably won't be purchasing them for myself.

Wednesday 26th February

Again I didn't do much during the day, just college but later on my cousin and a friend were having an over night stop with us on their way back down to Nottingham after spending a few days photographing Scotland.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is basically a UK version of Bioderma more in depth review coming soon!

Simple Oil balancing moisturiser is a re-purchase, I love it! I use it day and night after cleansing and before make-up and it helps to keep excess oil from appearing on my face throughout the day!

Super Facialist by Una Brennan Tea Flower Purifying Cleansing wash, I adore this range! Look out for a review very soon on here!

My cousin Jono, his friend Tim and I went out for drinks after they had arrived.  Tim took this polaroid of Jono and I.

I may resemble Voldemort slightly here but I do love the photo!
Jono is a phenomenal photographer you should definitely check out his website!

Thursday 27th February

A couple of friends and I decided we needed a good night out so we got dressed up and hit the town for a night of drinks and dancing at a local club called Fury's!! Not the classiest establishment but it's kind of the best Ayr's got so we coped, a few drinks and we didn't care! The music was a huge range with everything from The Vengaboys to Robin Thicke, Beyonce and then Banks of Loch Lomond thrown in for good measure!

Wearing:
Dress - H&M

Our Polaroids from the night!!

We had an awesome night but felt a little bit worse for ware at college the next morning!

Friday 28th February

I don't have a picture of my outfit or face for this day, I either forgot or didn't think it was all that special apparently!! But I did go to my friend Gil's house at night. We watched the film 21 (great film), ate cake all while I made her cat Shea hate me by forcing her to cuddle me!!!

Gil is a genius when it comes to baking and when we set the date for our night in she asked me what cake would I like her to make, I immediately said Red Velvet because it is my ultimate cake have!! She definitely didn't disappoint by creating this 5 layers of deliciousness!

Oooh! I can almost taste it now! Look at that colour!

Here's a little bonus pic of her cat Bodhi, look at those big round eyes!!!

Saturday 1st March

Reeeeally didn't do much! I'm only writing about it because I want to talk about the dinner I had haha!! I spent the day clearing out my room and then we went to Frankie & Bennies for dinner!
I had this...

It's a meatball bolognese calzone and it was heavenly! Can't wait to go back so I can have some more!

Tuesday 4th March

Pancake Daaaaaayy!! (possibly one of my favourite days of the year! I loooove me some pancakes) Again I spent the day at college (my life's so exciting isn't it!!) nothing much happened except that Jen and I went shopping afterwards and were amazed at how much lovely clothes are in Primark now that they've brought in their Spring/Summer stuff!!
Anyway here's my FOTD

Face:
Urban Decay Naked Foundation
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concelaer
Rimmel brow pencil
Seventeen Wet Look Lacquer eyeliner
The Mega Plush Volum' Express mascara from Maybelline
Sleek blush in Chantilly
Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Funtime Fuchsia

After dinner my Dad and Sister made a huge stack of pancakes which disappeared in minutes!!! I covered mine in Nutella and bananas and Sugar an lemon juice, it was delicious. Unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of my pancakes but I got a picture of the stack, it doesn't look a lot because of the angle but trust me it was huge!!

I also apologise for it not being the best photo but please understand my need to eat these right away!!!!

Wednesday 5th March

Another day at college!! But it was alright, I had bought a new dress the day before in Primark so I decided to wear that!

Dress - Primark
Cardigan - Jack&Jones

Thursday 6th March

Again I had another day of doing nothing! Except getting to babysit at night, I haven't seen my boys in weeks so it was so good to see them again! Even if 2 of them were already sleeping!! I've missed them!
I just wanted to put this here because I discovered my new favourite healthy snack. I've recently started a new health and fitness plan (watch this space for a blog post all about it soon!) so i've been eating healthier, getting loads of protein in along with all the other good nutrients! I saw a picture of this snack on Instagram and decided to try it

Strawberries and peanut butter, So so sooo good!

Well if you got to the end of this you deserve a medal! I really hope it wasn't too long, I could of spread this over 2 posts but, well, i didn't want to haha!

It's Fridaaaaay!! Woop woop! I'm getting ready to spend my weekend with 25 Brownie guides, I think it'll be quite a good weekend though, quite looking forward to it!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
